Not sure how the first blog is supposed to go, but I’ll try to make this quick and to the point. My name is Geoff, and I am an avid game player. I play board games, video games, lawn games, drinking games and organized sports. Needless to say, it’s very easy to shop for me for my birthday.
I would say my obsession began thanks to my friend, Matt George. He invited me over for dinner and a whole lot of wine a few years ago. As the sun was setting, and dinner was settling, he offered to teach me how to play a new game he had recently purchased, Bohnanza. I guess you could say it was my gateway game. It was so unlike all the classic Mattel and Parker Brothers games I had played as a child. It was a truly amazing experience. Since then, I’ve been collecting the rare and odd games that are all over the internet but sometimes hard to locate. I like introducing my friends to new games the same way Matt did to me so many years ago.
So I guess the point of this blog is to try and introduce other people to games that they might not have ever seen before. Give people some hints as to which I like, and which I don’t. Maybe provide some information about what games are similar and when are the most appropriate times to play a specific game. I’ll probably touch on replay value of games, and which have the best receptions to non-gamers. And as I go through my catalog, I’ll probably get a little better at typing my thoughts about games. Also reader be warned, there may be an editorial rant in there every once in a while.
Keep in mind that everything I write is an attempt to be non-biased, but in the end, I suppose it’s going to be all my opinions. That’s the point of a blog, right? But I’d love to hear your comments and questions, and ALWAYS if someone has a suggestion of a game they’d like reviewed, or a game I might not have heard of, please let me know!
Enjoy reading about The Games We Play…
